In accordance with the Decision of the Council of Ministers No 1000 dd. August 3, 2006 the National exhibition of the Republic of Belarus "Belarus 2006" was held in Kiev on October 11 - 14, 2006. The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Trade together with the Belarusian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.  

The exhibition "Belarus 2006" was held in the exhibition hall of the Ukrainian Commercial and Industrial Chamber. 123 Belarusian organizations and establishments participated in the exhibition which occupied 826 m². 

First Deputy of the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Semashko, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine, Mr. Velichko, the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Bobrov, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Architecture and Construction, Belneftekhim and Bellesbumprom Concerns, the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Belarus, BNPA, the State Customs Committee, enterprises and organizations of the republic took part in the opening ceremony.

The following representatives of the Ukrainian party took part in the opening ceremony: the Vice-Prime-Minister, Mr. Tabachnick, representatives of the Cabinet, ministries and departments of Ukraine, heads of regional administrations, top managers of the Ukrainian Commercial and Industrial Chamber, representatives of diplomatic corps and business circles of Ukraine, the Head of the trade representation under the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Lajshev.  

On the first day of the exhibition the Belarusian - Ukrainian business - forum was held. Representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Architecture and Construction, Belneftekhim and Bellesbumprom Concerns, the State Customs Committee, the Belarusian Embassy, Belarusian enterprises and organizations - participants of the exhibition, and also of the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Industrial Politics, the State Customs Service, Naftogaz of Ukraine, representatives of business circles of Ukraine participated in the forum.

The meeting of the representatives of the business circles of Belarus and Ukraine was held in Kiev

Realization of the agreement achieved within the exhibition will contribute to:   

• entrance to the Ukrainian market by the Belarusian goods;
• extension of the commodity distribution network in Ukraine;

• development of cooperation of the establishments of the Ministry of Education and the National Academy of Science with the Ukrainian partners.

About 1,500 people visited the exhibition within four days of its work.

The Belarusian exhibition and the events held within the exhibition contributed to the further development of trade and economic relations between the republic of Belarus and Ukraine. In the whole the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the exhibition can be considered to be successful. Negotiations on cooperation were held, agreements on supply of industrial goods to Ukraine were signed.

The exhibition showed that Belarusian goods are in demand among the population of Ukraine thanks to their quality.
